Why this adapter

The easy choice if you have an iPhone: the adapter creates its own Wi-Fi network, the phone joins it and the app talks to the car through the address and port in the table. It also works with Android and a Windows PC.

It covers the engine basics: read and clear fault codes, turn off the warning light and show live data. It does not reach ABS or airbag.

While connected

A phone can only join one Wi-Fi network at a time: while you use the adapter there is no internet over Wi-Fi. If the app needs a connection (maps, downloads), it will use mobile data.

PIC18F25K80 chip

Inside there is a PIC18F25K80 microcontroller, the same one in every unbranded ELM327 Satkit sells. It is the chip found in the clones that diagnostic forums rate best: a programmable microcontroller from the same family (PIC18) as the original ELM327, usually running firmware based on the original 1.4.
