Why this adapter

An ELM327 Bluetooth in a mini housing. It reads and clears fault codes and shows data such as coolant temperature, intake pressure or ignition timing.

It reports itself as v2.1, but it has the same chip as the ELM327 Bluetooth v1.5 (explained below).

v2.1 with a PIC18F25K80 chip?

This adapter uses the same PIC18F25K80 microcontroller as Satkit's ELM327 v1.5 adapters. "v2.1" is just the number the firmware reports when an app asks for it (the ATI command), not the chip: a clone can report any version it likes. Inside, it is the same chip as the v1.5. To see which commands it really answers, test it with an app such as ELM327 Identifier (Android).

iPhone users

It is classic Bluetooth: it will not work with an iPhone or iPad. For iPhone, get a Wi-Fi adapter instead.
