The YB3L-B column gives the specifications from Yuasa’s product page, as Yuasa is the brand that gives this battery code its name. The other column shows the specifications of the battery sold by Satkit. Capacity is always compared using the same hour rate, and starting current using the same standard.
What does YB3L-B mean?
- YB: Yuasa’s YuMicron series of high-performance conventional flooded batteries.
- 3: here, it does indicate the capacity: the YB3L-B has a capacity of 3 Ah at the 10-hour rate.
- L: the polarity is reversed, with the positive terminal on the right when you face the label.
- -B: the combination of terminals, vent outlet and case shape. There is no general rule: check the diagram for each battery code.

Before switching to a sealed battery
The original is a conventional flooded battery. An AGM or gel battery can replace it as a maintenance-free option if the motorcycle’s voltage regulator/rectifier charges between 14.0 and 14.8 V at 3000–4000 rpm. If it charges below this range, stick with a conventional battery. A sealed battery has no vent tube, so leave the motorcycle’s vent tube disconnected.
