The FY3206S 6MHz 2-channel arbitrary function generator from FeelTech is an advanced instrument designed for precise electronic signal generation with two independent channels. This DDS (Direct Digital Synthesis) generator can create sine, square, triangle, sawtooth, arbitrary and modulated waveforms (AM, FM), with full control over amplitude, frequency, offset and phase.

Thanks to its CMOS integrated circuit technology and a high-speed microprocessor, together with an active crystal oscillator, it offers exceptional stability and precision in signal generation, with a frequency resolution of up to 10 mHz and an accuracy of ±5×10-6.

Key features

  • Independent dual output channels (CH1 and CH2) with high-speed output.
  • Maximum sine and square wave frequency: 6 MHz.
  • Available waveforms: sine, square (with duty cycle adjustable between 0.1% and 99.9%), triangle, sawtooth, arbitrary, standard pulse, noise, electrocardiogram, AM and FM.
  • Output amplitude ≥ 20 Vp-p (no load) with output impedance of 50 ohms ±10%.
  • Synchronised TTL output for both channels with adjustable phase and electrical level > 3.3 Vp-p.
  • Built-in frequency counter with measurement range from 1 Hz to 100 MHz for internal and external signals.
  • CH1 sweep function with linear and logarithmic modes, with adjustable range and speed.
  • Memory for saving up to 20 custom settings.
  • Full digital control via buttons and rotary knob with LCD1602 display in English.
  • Sampling rate up to 250 MSa/s and 12-bit waveform generator for low distortion.
  • Compact dimensions: 200 x 190 x 90 mm and approximate weight of 500 g.

Customer Questions & Answers

What waveforms can the FY3206S-6MHz generate, and which specific applications are they useful for?

The FY3206S-6MHz can generate sine, square, triangle, sawtooth and programmable arbitrary waveforms. Sine waves are ideal for testing audio equipment and filters; square waves are used in digital simulation or logic clock testing; triangle/sawtooth waves are used in modulation and control circuits, while arbitrary waveforms allow complex specific signals to be emulated, which is essential for analogue modules or custom designs.

What output interface and amplitude levels does the generator offer, and how is it connected to other laboratory instruments?

The generator has standard BNC outputs and supports adjustable signal levels up to ±10 Vpp into a high-impedance load (approximately 50 Ω). It includes a TTL output for digital synchronisation. This allows direct connection to oscilloscopes, analysers or test equipment with BNC inputs, ensuring versatility in educational and industrial laboratories.

Does the unit require any specific software or driver to load arbitrary waveforms, and is it compatible with Windows or Mac systems?

To load arbitrary waveforms, the dedicated software provided by the manufacturer is used, generally compatible with Windows systems (usually Windows 7/8/10). Native support for macOS is not guaranteed, so Mac users would need a virtual environment or a Windows machine. The driver is usually included in the package or available online.

What are the power supply specifications, and is there tolerance for voltage variations?

The FY3206S-6MHz usually operates with an external 12 V DC power supply, with a tolerance margin of ±10%. Maximum consumption is usually less than 10 W. It is important not to exceed the specified values to avoid damage or unstable operation, especially in environments with frequent voltage fluctuations.

What is the main technical difference between this model and other similar-range DDS generators, such as the FY3200S-10MHz?

The key difference lies in the maximum output frequency: the FY3206S-6MHz reaches 6 MHz in sine mode, whereas the FY3200S-10MHz reaches 10 MHz. In addition, distortion performance and waveform fidelity are very similar between the two, but the higher-frequency model offers more headroom for RF applications or greater bandwidth needs. If the 0–6 MHz range meets your requirements, the 3206S is more cost- and power-efficient.

What is the maximum frequency this arbitrary function generator can produce?

The FY3206S can generate signals with a maximum frequency of up to 6 MHz for sine, square and triangle waves.

What types of waveforms can the FY3206S generate?

It can generate sine, square (with adjustable duty cycle), triangle, sawtooth, arbitrary, pulse, noise, electrocardiogram, AM and FM waveforms.

Does it have frequency measurement?

Yes, it includes a frequency counter with a measurement range from 1 Hz to 100 MHz for internal and external signals.

Can it be controlled by computer?

Yes, each function can be adjusted from the computer using the included software and USB connection.
