Customer Questions & Answers
What is the main function of the OBDII TDI Drive Box and in what situations is it useful?
The OBDII TDI Drive Box allows you to activate or deactivate the electronic immobiliser (IMMO) on Bosch EDC15 (diesel) and ME7 (petrol) control units fitted to various VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda models from 1999 onwards. It is useful in cases of lost or damaged keys/transponders, ECU repairs or for testing without an immobiliser, making diagnostics or ECU swaps easier.
What voltage and current range does the Drive Box support, and what precautions should I take during installation?
The device is designed to operate directly from the standard OBD2 port, supporting a typical range of 12–15 V DC and a maximum current of up to 2 A, in line with the socket specification. It should not be connected to vehicles with modified electrical systems or voltages outside the range, as this may cause malfunctions or damage to the unit. It is recommended to connect it with the vehicle switched off and never force the connector.
What objective differences are there compared with using IMMO OFF diagnostic software on a PC?
The Drive Box allows the immobiliser to be activated or deactivated directly via OBD2 without requiring a computer, drivers or software installation, which reduces the chance of human error or compatibility issues. However, its function is strictly limited to IMMO management for compatible Bosch EDC15/ME7 ECUs, whereas software solutions (such as VAG K+CAN Commander or other interfaces) may offer more diagnostic and programming options, but require more technical knowledge and additional hardware.
Which vehicle models is this tool compatible with?
It is compatible with VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles from 1999 onwards with Bosch EDC15 (diesel) and ME7 (petrol) units, as well as the older petrol Porsche Cayenne model.
Do I need a computer to use the OBD2 IMMO Activator?
No, the tool works by connecting directly to the OBD2 port and using the switch to activate or deactivate the immobiliser without the need for a computer.
Can I use this tool on 1.8T or 2.0 TFSI models?
No, this tool is not compatible with 1.8T, 2.0 TFSI models or 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines.
Who can buy this product?
This product is intended exclusively for authorised professionals and persons with special authorisation in the automotive industry.
What does the LED on the tool indicate?
The LED indicates the immobiliser status: slow then fast flashing means the immobiliser is deactivated; when activated, the LED shows a different status.
